An extremely elongated, worm-like terrestrial salamander specialized for a fossorial lifestyle. The body is exceptionally slender and cylindrical, featuring an elongated tail that can easily double the snout-vent length. The limbs are extraordinarily diminutive, short, and weak, with tiny digits that are webbed or fused, rendering them nearly vestigial for standard locomotion but functional for navigating tight soil matrices. The coloration is generally uniform, ranging from dark slate, brownish-black, to deep charcoal grey, occasionally with pale or silver speckling along the lower flanks. The head is small, narrow, and tapers to a pointed snout with tiny, reduced eyes. As a plethodontid, it completely lacks lungs, relying solely on cutaneous respiration.
