General Description for Tropical Rainforest

  • Tropical rainforests in Costa Rica are lush, evergreen ecosystems located primarily in the lowlands of the Caribbean and southern Pacific slopes. They are characterized by high rainfall (over 4,000 mm annually), dense canopy layers, and an extraordinary level of biodiversity. These forests host a wide range of flora and fauna, including epiphytes, towering emergent trees, and countless species of insects, birds, amphibians, and mammals.
